Important Milestones in Software Reliability Modeling

چکیده
A number of software reliability models have been proposed for assessing the reliability of a software system. In this paper, we discuss the time-domain and data-domain approaches to software reliability modeling, and classify the previously reported models into these two classes based on their underlying assumptions. The data-domain models are further classiied into fault-seeding and input domain models, while the time-domain models are further classiied into homogeneous Markov, non-homogeneous Markov and semi-Markov models. We present some representative models belonging to each of the classes, and then discuss the relative merits and limitations of the time and data-domain approaches.

UML Support for Reliability Evaluation
Today’s software systems are developed and targeted for satisfying sometimes very critical functions. Reliability is considered to be one of the most important nonfunctional quality attribute of such software systems. The aim of reliability estimation in early stages of software development process – analysis and design – should reduce the future costs for possible failure repairing through inc...
متن کاملExploring Architecture-Based Software Reliability Allocation Using a Dynamic Programming Algorithm
Software reliability allocation plays an important role during software product design phase, which has close relationship with software modeling and cost evaluation. We formulated an architecture-based approach for modeling software reliability optimization problem, on this basis a dynamic programming algorithm has been illustrated in this paper which can be used to allocate the reliability to...
متن کاملBasic Psychometric Validation of the Developmental Milestones for Children’s Play in Children Aged from Four to Seven Years
Children’s play is an important activity, which reflects overall children’s development. There is small number of studies that dealt with developmental milestones of children’s play, especially those of children aged up to four years. Therefore, we have conducted a study on 839 children, aged from four to seven years. The main objective of this research is to investigate psychometric characteri...
متن کاملDiscrete Program-Size Dependent Software Reliability Assessment: Modeling, Estimation, and Goodness-of-Fit Comparisons
In this paper we propose a discrete program-size dependent software reliability growth model flexibly describing the software failure-occurrence phenomenon based on a discrete Weibull distribution. We also conduct model comparisons of our discrete SRGM with existing discrete SRGMs by using actual data sets. The program size is one of the important metrics of software complexity. It is known tha...
متن کاملReliability Modeling Using UML
System reliability has become an increasingly important benchmark in measuring service continuity. As part of many service level agreements, system performance is gauged by how long it provides service without downtime. It is essential to understand and estimate system reliability during the system design and development phase. Most reliability modeling techniques are based on reliability block...
